Terms of Service

Last updated: February 19, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MyAuth ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App. MyAuth is provided as open-source software under the MIT license.

2. Description of Service

MyAuth is a two-factor authentication (2FA) application that generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) in compliance with RFC 6238. The App provides zero-knowledge encrypted cloud synchronization to enable cross-device access to your 2FA tokens.

3. User Responsibilities

As a user of MyAuth, you are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your master password
  • Safely storing your Recovery Code generated during setup
  • Keeping your device secure and up to date
  • Understanding that loss of both your password and recovery code will result in permanent loss of access to your encrypted data

4. Zero-Knowledge Encryption

MyAuth employs zero-knowledge encryption. This means that the developer (@PythonicVarun) and infrastructure providers cannot access, recover, or reset your encrypted data. You acknowledge that this design choice prioritizes your privacy but places full responsibility for credential management on you.

5. Self-Hosted (BYOS) Usage

If you choose to use MyAuth with your own self-hosted backend (Bring Your Own Server), you are solely responsible for the security, availability, and maintenance of your infrastructure. The MyAuth project provides no warranties or support for self-hosted deployments.

6. Open Source License

MyAuth is released under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with the license terms. The full license text is available in the project's GitHub repository.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

MyAuth is provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. While we strive to provide a secure and reliable service, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or the absence of bugs. Use the App at your own risk.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
